2025 Mattress Cooler Classic Slim

New for 2025 and designed to fit under most beds with 8" or more of clearance. This gets the cooling system out of the way, minimizes fan noise, and allows convection with the coolest air in the room for a small efficiency boost.

2024 Mattress Cooler Classic XL

The 2024 XL was designed to be a simple solution to a simple problem. Its revolutionary nesting design makes production and assembly possible to do in the US while allowing simple disassemble, cleaning, and repair by users. The water cooler is designed to cool 2 adults in a room with 70-75 degree ambient temperature and humidity at or under 55%. It will still work at higher temperatures and humidity levels, but performance will decrease. On the flip side, performance will increase as ambient humidity and temperature decreases.

2025 Mattress Cooler Classic

Coming soon, a new and improved version of the 2024  XL with improved cord management, easier cleaning, and a sleeker look.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How can this device possibly  cool without a compressor?

A:  To cool the human body all we need is a temperature differential about 20 degrees lower than body temperature (98.6F). In almost all most houses with central AC, the nightime temperature is rarely over 75 degrees, giving us plenty of differential, we just need a device to accelerate the heat flow and that's exactly what the Mattress Cooler Classic does.

Now...I know what you are thinking...75 degree air isn't that cool. but we are not going to be using air, we are using water and if you have ever jumped into a 75 degree swimming pool you know it's pretty chilly in the shade.

The difference in the feel is due to the physical properties of air and water that make water about 3,000 times more efficient at absorbing body heat compared to air per unit of volume.

But enough science... the answer is that it is actually pretty easy to maintain 75 degree water in a 75 degree room using just a small 12V fan and water pump.

Q: Why do you use PVC Pads instead of Cotton Pads

A: Cooling Performance. The sweet spot for a PVC cooling pad is about 75 degrees. So If I can circulate 75 degree water through it, for most people, this is going to absorb just about the same omount of energy per minute as your body is generating, keeping you comfortable and cool. Personal preference will vary +/-  a few degrees, but for most people, once you get under 70 degrees it will start to feel too cold after 5-10 minutes. On the flip side...if the water temperature rises much over 80 degrees, heat flow slows and cooling performance is degraded.

Contrast this to a cotton pad with tubing run through it, or a PVC pad with a thick cover on it. To achieve the same level of body cooling, they require an operating temperature of 55 or less to achieve the same level of cooling the PVC pad achieves at 75F. While the PVC pad has less than 1mm of fabric between you and the 75F water...the fabric cooling pads essentially have layers of tubing and fabric insulation blocking the cool, thus they require much lower temperatures to break through.

So while we can easily maintain water temp of 70-75 using evaporative water cooler, getting to 55F is just not possible using this approach. Instead, to use a fabric pad, you have to upgrade the cooler to a compressor, and that triples the price of the system, increases electricity usage 10X, and to be completely honest...you thenhave a non-repairable system that will need to be completely replaced every few years....just to achieve the same level of cooling the Mattress Cooler Classic already has.

So the bottom line is...pairing a PVC pad with a simple and efficient evaporative water cooler is the perect combination, allowing us to manufacture and distribute the most affordable sleep cooling system on the US market.

Q: Why don't your pads have a fabric cover?

A: Cost, and efficiency. We could add a cover, but it would probably double or triple the price for a component that is meant to be replaced periodically. The pad is already designed to go under the fitted sheet, or pillow case which acts as a light cover. If you need more, you can easily put another sheet or layer between the pad and your body, though at some point this would block most of the cooling. By keeping our pads simple, we are able to offer replacements at $20-30 each, compared to other products on the market where pad replacement can cost $500 or more if they are even available.

Q: Why don't you accept returns?

A: These are personal use items...if it's opened, we have to assume you slept naked on it 😊.

How to set it up/ Use it

**We reccomend all customers to use a waterproof mattress pad on your mattress and place the cooler itself inside a plastic tray to protect against accidental spills.

1) Place the Mattress Cooling Pad between the mattress and a fitted sheet. To cool yourself, place the pad from head to foot. For two people, place it across the mattress between your neck and waist. Avoid placement near sharp objects or high-friction areas where you get in/out of bed. Pillow Pads can be strapped first to the pillow, then insert into the pillow case.

2) Connect tubes to the mattress cooling pad. Remove the cooler so you can fill the water tank. Plug in the power control.

3) Turn on the cooler by adjusting the power control knob. Turn to high for 5 seconds then to medium. After this this medium setting should be considered high. Adjust from there to meet your cooling needs.

4) To maximize cooling, turn the knob up to medium. For a gentler chill, set the power to a lower setting. If the system is too cold even on lower settings, unplug the fan from the power control. The pump will continue to circulate the water, which will still remove body heat.

Maintenance

Drain every 2 Weeks:

Remove the top from the system and dump the tank into a sink or tub. Refill with fresh water.

Deep Clean every 2 Months:

  1. Remove the cooler from the system and take the tank over to a sink to dump it out.
  2. Prepare a warm bleach-water solution (1 tsp bleach: 1 Gallon Water).
  3. Scrub down the inside of the tank with dish soap and warm water.
  4. Rinse out the tank and fill it with the warm bleach water solution.
  5. Put the cooler back on and turn on the Mattress Cooler.
  6. Allow it to run for 15-20min to circulate the bleach-water solution through the pad and clean it out.
  7. Drain the tank and refill with fresh water.

Mattress Cooling Pad:

Change the Mattress Cooling Pad every 4-6 months. This will prevent your Mattress Cooler Classic XL from getting too dirty and reduce the risk of leaks.

Tips

  • Consider topping the PVC Pad with a thin-fitted Mattress Pad to make it more comfortable. We recommend Mainstays Super Soft Quilted Mattress Pad.
  • To save money on replacement cooling pads, order the 2-pack of pads.
  • All water based cooling systems should be used with a water proof mattress protector.
